Cupping Therapy in Burlington

What is cupping?

Cupping is a therapeutic technique whereby a vacuum is created in a cup, drawing the skin up into the cup, separating the layers of superficial fascia.

It is used to treat sports injuries, muscle tension, arthritis, tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, IT Band Tightness and scars.

How does it work?

With the cups applied to the skin, the suction draws blood to the level of the skin and causes new blood to rush in below, removing stagnation.

Why is it done?

Cupping is done to:

  • Improve mobility
  • Reduce/eliminate chronic pain
  • Improve circulation
  • Decrease muscle tension
  • Detoxification to the area applied

How does it feel?

An effective cupping treatment can feel like a deep tissue massage. The marks left on the skin by cupping are NOT bruises and are not painful but will generally last anywhere from 1-8 days.

Book as a separate treatment or enhance your massage by adding cupping to your session.
